Harrison Ford On Conan

Many talk show hosts who have the delightfully awkward Harrison Ford on as a guest these days have to bring up Star Wars Episode VII and what’s going on with the project…usually with hilarious results.

Ford was recently a guest of Conan O’Brien‘s, and the host did what was necessary to get any kind of Star Wars info he could: he bribed him with $1,000. While there, O’Brien also asked Ford about being haunted by the Smurfs, whose first movie opened on July 29, 2011 against his Cowboys & Aliens (with the latter barely inching out the weekend victory by about $1 million while on 355 more screens), and whose sequel is now in theaters against Ford’s latest, Paranoia.

See what Ford had to say about both topics in a pair of videos below!

J.J. Abrams Premieres Very Brief Scene From ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ On ‘Conan’

Star Trek Into Darkness

Conan O’Brien‘s nightly talk show on TBS is really becoming quite the hot spot for surprise major movie announcements. Hot on the heels of Will Ferrell announcing in March that an Anchorman sequel had been given the green light for a release sometime in 2013 comes the world premiere of finished footage from one of next summer’s hotly-anticipated motion picture events.

Last night J.J. Abrams stopped by Conan to discuss, among other things, his upcoming film Star Trek Into Darkness, the long-awaited sequel to his blockbuster 2009 reboot of the continuing voyages of the starship Enterprise, Star Trek. During the interview Abrams surprised O’Brien and sidekick Andy Richter with the news that he had wanted to bring with him the first footage from the movie to premiere on the show. Unfortunately Paramount Pictures had a slight problem with that, but after Abrams’ insistence the studio relented, but only on the condition that Abrams limit the footage shown to just three frames of film.

You can watch the video here below. The actual scene begins – and ends – at the 1:50 mark.

Conan O'Brien Buys Mashable

Comedian and late-night talk show host Conan O’Brien announced today, April 1, 2012, that he has purchased the tech news site Mashable for a whopping 3,500 Smackeroos and has ousted its CEO and founder Pete Cashmore.

O’Brien announced the news through a video on Mashable’s YouTube video page; you can watch that video here in full below.

Of his reasoning behind wanting to take over Mashable, O’Brien said the following:

I’m sick and tired of scanning the Internet looking for any news about technology: Devices, gadgets, what’s coming up, maybe even a rating system for gadgets that are out there. It doesn’t exist on the web and it’s high time it did.
