We’ve seen zombies as the antagonist in action, horrors, and comedies. Sometimes it can be a combination of all three. But we’ve rarely seen the undead characters in an intimate family drama like Maggie. The film sees a father protecting his daughter, who has been bitten and is slowly turning.

Set in a zombie-infected world, Arnold Schwarzenegger will play the father who protects his slowly turning daughter (Abigail Breslin) from law enforcement and the CDC. Lionsgate obtained the distribution rights for the film last year, and it will make its big screen debut at the Tribeca Film Festival later this year. Now we are getting our first look at the film. Abigail Breslin has quite an extensive career at such a young age. She first burst onto the scene in M. Night Shyamalan’s Signs in 2002 and eventually starred in Little Miss Sunshine, which scored her an Oscar nomination, and has since taken her talents to a wide variety of projects like Zombieland, The Call, and the upcoming Ender’s Game and August: Osage County. Now she is ready to revisit the zombie genre, but it’s not quite for Zombieland 2, and it won’t be anything like the zombie films we have seen in the past.

The young actress has signed on for Maggie, as Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s (who’s also producing) daughter. But what sets this film apart from the rest of the zombie films out there is that it takes a look at the emotional toll of turning into a zombie and how it affects those who know the victim.

Just recently we found out that Arnold Schwarzenegger, who’s clearly out to make up some of the time he was out of the movies and governing California, was set to star in the planned Terminator 5.

Now comes word of yet another new project the 65-year-old actor is lining up. It’s being reported that Schwarzenegger is set to produce and star in a new zombie drama titled Maggie, which is based on the Black List script of the same name by writer John Scott 3.

20th Century Fox has tapped into the works of the great science-fiction writer Isaac Asimov twice before — Fantastic Voyage (1966) and I, Robot (2004). Hoping that the third time will be the charm the studio is turning the author’s 1954 novel The Caves of Steel into a major motion picture and have already hired newcomers Henry Hobson and John Scott 3 to respectively direct and write the film.
