
At first it looked like Asa Butterfield was going to get the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man for the upcoming reboot. For the past couple of weeks, actors have been testing for the role since filming for Captain America: Civil War started last month, with many reporting that Butterfield was one of the major frontrunners. However, with no official confirmation from either Marvel or Sony, it looks like the casting process is a bit more problematic.
Now comes word that the Ender’s Game actor may not be under consideration anymore, and that Tom Holland (The Impossible), Charlie Plummer (Boardwalk Empire), and Matthew Lintz (Pixels) are the new frontrunners for Spider-Man. It also appears that Marvel Studios and Sony are unable to come to an agreement as to who could play the webslinger.
