Sometimes we hate bad guys. The combination of excellent writing, directing, and acting for a villain can get us lost in the story and in our distaste for the character. I have a huge amount of respect for actors and television shows that can pull this off; however, there is another type of antagonist that I think we can all appreciate just as much, if not more. So ABC’s surprisingly successful television series Once Upon a Time will be getting a spin-off series this Fall and now we have a preview of an upcoming graphic novel co-created by Marvel Entertainment and Disney-ABC.

Marvel Comics and ABC Studios have announced Once Upon a Time: Shadow of the Queen, a graphic novel hardcover to be released by Marvel Comics that is an extension of the hit ABC television series Once Upon a Time. The story will be plotted by series writer & co-producer Dan Thomsen, and co-written by Corinna Bechko (Planet of The Apes). Art will come from Nimit Malavia, Vasilis Lolos, Mike Del Mundo, Stephanie Hans, and Mike Henderson.

What’s even more exciting about this graphic novel is that it’s not just some one shot story, it actually fits into the TV show’s continuity proper. Does that mean fans of the graphic novel will see hints of that story in some future episode of the TV series?
