Written by Gennifer Hutchison
Starring Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Michael McKean, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, Kerry Condon, Omid Abtahi, Barry Shabaka Henley
AMC
Air Date: Monday, March 16, 2015, 10pm Better Call Saul Episode 1.7 “Bingo,” the embezzling Kettlemans are back and they’ve had a change of heart about hiring Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) to be their counselor. While Mrs. Kettleman previously described Jimmy as the kind of lawyer that guilty people hire and as it turns out, they are guilty as hell. And they were sloppy about their crime, too, yet they believe they should be able to keep the $1.6 million that Mr. Kettleman stole from the county as well as stay out of jail and maintain their innocence and they think that Jimmy is the person who can do this for them. While we’ve seen Jimmy’s Breaking Bad alter ego Saul Goodman in action with clients like this, even the hustler he becomes could not give these people everything they want. But, Better Call Saul is a prequel, where Jimmy is just getting his start. We see him in this episode hosting a BINGO game at the local nursing home, which is filled with his new clientele now that he’s taken up elder law. But, when the Kettlemans call and threaten to implicate him in their crime, since he actually took a bribe from them, Jimmy’s hands are tied. He has to take the case or go down with them.

Better Call Saul
Episode 1.6 “Five-O”
Directed by Adam Bernstein
Written by Gordon Smith
Starring Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Michael McKean, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, Kerry Condon, Omid Abtahi, Barry Shabaka Henley
AMC
Air Date: Monday, March 9, 2015, 10pm Better Call Saul Episode 1.6 “Five-O” centered solely on Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), with the show’s regular cast of characters nowhere to be found except for main man Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), who finds himself as Mike’s lawyer. After nearly four seasons on AMC’s Breaking Bad and five episodes on this first season of Saul, we finally learn about Mike’s past and what might have driven him to go from being a 30-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department to the henchman of drug kingpin Gus Fring. “Five-O” pretty much spells it all out for us. And I don’t know about you, but the reveal is nothing I had anticipated, especially after the ending of the previous episode, “1.5 Alpine Shepherd Boy,” left us thinking that something nefarious was going on with Mike and the woman he was watching.

Better Call Saul
Episode 1.5 “Alpine Shepherd Boy”
Directed by Nicole Kassell
Written by Bradley Paul
Starring Bob Odenkirk, Michael McKean, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Michael Mando, Patrick Fabian
AMC
Air Date: Monday, March 2, 2015, 10pm While the episodes of AMC’s Better Call Saul so far showcased Jimmy McGill’s (Bob Odenkirk) struggles as a public defender in the Albuquerque, NM, courts before he became the big shot Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad, Episode 1.5 “Alpine Shepherd Boy” dealt more with Jimmy’s brother, Chuck (Michael McKean). In previous episode’s flashbacks, we saw that Chuck was actually a successful lawyer who was part of a huge, profitable law firm, but now he has daily struggles of his own. Instead of picking up the pieces for “Slippin’ Jimmy,” now it’s Jimmy’s turn to take care of his brother. Eighteen months prior to the events of the first episode, Chuck developed a condition called electromagnetic hypersensitivity, where he can’t be around electronic devices, which have their own electromagnetic field. Because of this, he can no longer work and is a recluse trapped in his own house, with Jimmy bringing him all the essentials for survival. When exposed to electricity or even the world outside his house at this point, Chuck experiences problems like burning sensation of the skin, nausea, tinnitus, vertigo, shortness of breath, and more. In this episode, an unfortunate incident at his house lands Chuck in the hospital, where he becomes sicker than ever. It’s up to Jimmy to make a choice about his brother’s future.

But everything changed in “Hero,” where Jimmy’s luck takes a turn for the better.
