Venom hits theaters this weekend, but it already looks like fans and audiences will be missing out on a lot of material from the Lethal Protector’s standalone film.

During the film’s press junket, Tom Hardy, who plays the title character, revealed that there’s over 40 minutes of his favorite footage that have been cut out from the film. This includes, in his words, “mad puppeteering scenes” and “dark comedy scenes.” More on the story below.

Here’s a new image you might want to sink your teeth into. Just ahead of its panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Sony has dropped new images from Venom, their first Spider-Man-Less spinoff.

While many have questioned if a universe full of supporting Spider-Man characters, villains, and anti-heroes can work, its titles are attracting some talent. For Venom, the talent doesn’t get any bigger than Tom Hardy, who plays the title character. The first Zombieland was a gut-wrenching horror comedy from Ruben Fleischer. Though it has been nearly 10 years since the film opened in theaters, fans — or what’s left of them — have been asking for a sequel. One that would reunite original cast Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin once more.

If you are still questioning whether or not a film universe full of Spider-Man villains and supporting characters could work without Spider-Man himself, don’t worry, we are too. Venom will still be a story about Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and his relationship with the alien symbiote. And yet, we know none of that would have ever happened without Spider-Man.
