Zombie Short Isolated

Can’t wait for The Walking Dead to return on February 8th? You should check out this impressive zombie short titled Isolated.

The short comes from Peak Pictures, and runs a little over five minutes. While completely computer animated, much of it looks quite realistic. It’s such high quality animation one might think an entire team worked on it, but it appears only a few people did.

Zombie Flesh EatersZombie Flesh Eaters
Blu-ray | DVD
Directed by Lucio Fulci
Starring Ian McCulloch, Tisa Farrow, Richard Johnson
Arrow Films
Release Date: December 3, 2012

The late Italian filmmaker Lucio Fulci has been a legend to fans of hardcore international horror for more than three decades, and with good reason. His movies are dripping with creepy atmosphere and overflowing with brutal violence and copious amounts of unrestrained blood and gore. Sometimes they can even be terrifying as hell.

Long before he made his name as a master of over-the-top fright flicks Fulci had made many features in various genres, from erotica to spaghetti westerns and crime dramas. When he started branching out into darker tales of psychological torment and relentless carnage like Lizard in a Woman’s Skin and Don’t Torture a Duckling the director believed he had discovered a new niche in his cinematic output and stuck with it for the rest of his career. Horror ultimately became the enduring legacy of Lucio Fulci, and many of us doubt he regretted that outcome.

DVD
Directed by Matthew Kohnen
Starring Matthew Davis, Julianna Robinson, Michael Grant Terry, Betsy Beutler, Richard Riehle, Tracey Walter, Colby French
Level 33 Entertainment
Originally Released: October 16, 2007

With the recent memes following the “zombie attack” news report from Florida, I found myself in a bit of a zombie flick mood this week for the Netflix Review. I was discussing this with a good friend of mine after reading the “bite your face off” news, and he recommended Aaah! Zombies!! to me because the story is told from the perspective of the zombies themselves.

Fascinated by this hysterical premise, I decided to dive into it. And what an eccentric ride this movie is.

Branded as a horror comedy, Aaah! Zombies!! dispenses exactly what it proposes: a zombie flick from the perspective of the zombies. The movie, directed by Matthew Kohnen, plays up on the well-known and thoroughly grounded trends and stereotypes from zombie tradition.

Aaah! Zombies!!, originally released under the name of Wasting Away, follows the ordeals of four teens that becoming exposed to a toxic waste that turn them into zombies. Accompanied by a man who claims to be Black Ops, the group is immune to injuries and imperceptive of their bodily transformation. They think they are victims of a military experiment that have turned them into super soldiers.
