MTV posted a limited-edition movie poster for Hellboy 2: The Golden Army illustrated by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. The poster were a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive.
Filming for the Universal Pictures sequel, written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, began in June in Budapest, Hungary and will also take place in the United Kingdom. The theatrical release date has been moved up to July 11th, 2008 (from original date August 1, 2008).
Ron Perlman returns to the franchise in the title role along with Selma Blair, John Hurt, Jeffrey Tambor, Brian Steele, and Doug Jones. Del Toro previously said there would be around 30 monsters in the sequel (compared to 8 in the original), and it will be around a 50-50 CGI to prosthetics ratio.
Check out the photo after the jump of Doug Jones (left) on the HB2 set in Budapest, Hungary, with Neil Gaiman (at right, who was visiting the set with his daughter Maddy). Jones reprises his role as the amphibious Abe Sapien, though this time around, the character will have his voice (in the first flick, an uncredited David Hyde Pierce provided the voice).
