BBC News reports today that the official title for the 22nd James Bond movie is Quantum of Solace.
Quantum of Solace is the title of a story that was included in For Your Eyes Only, a collection of short stories by 007 creator Ian Fleming that was published in 1960.
In this latest film, directed by Marc Forster, Daniel Craig reprises his role from Casino Royale as Agent 007, along with other returning castmembers Judi Dench as M, Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter, and Giancarlo Giannini as Mathis.
As previously reported, Olga Kurylenko (Hitman) has joined the franchise as the new Bond girl, the dangerously alluring Camille, who challenges Bond and helps him come to terms with the emotional consequences of Vesper’s betrayal. (Vesper was Bond’s love interest in Royale.) Gemma Arterton will play the role of MI6 Agent Fields.
According to the BBC report, Arterton has already shot her love scenes with 007, while Kurylenko has yet to film any scenes, but instead has been doing weapons and fight training for her role that sees her on her own revenge-driven mission.
The film studios showed reporters at a press conference a minute of footage from the upcoming film, including Bond swinging on a rope after an explosion at an art gallery in Siena, Italy, and a scene with M outside in the snow.
French actor Mathieu Amalric (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) will star as the film’s sinister villain Dominic Greene, a leading member of the villainous organization introduced in Casino Royale, seeking to control huge natural resources.
Production on the film, which was written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Paul Haggis, began on January 7, 2008 in London.
Quantum of Solace hits theaters on November 7, 2008.

I like any title that has more than a little thought put into it, so as awkward as it may stumble off the tongue, I’m diggin’ it!
It’s strange… I never used to get excited about Bond films. It was always, “Oop! Another Bond. Must be that time of year again.” But I’m am REALLY stoked about seeing this one.
I just hope it lives up to the standards Casino Royale set. A different director can change a lot.
