While movies like Iron Man and The Dark Knight have opened to raucous approval, one seemingly major admission has been missing from our movie screens of late; a trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Speculation has put it appearing before movies from Prince Caspian all the way through to The Mummy 3.
Thankfully, we finally know that the trailer is appearing on AOL tonight at 9pm (not sure if that’s eastern or what), and appearing in theaters before The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor this Friday.

But the big news, from USA Today is that we’ll be getting to see our first glimpse of young Voldemort. And while I’m not 100% certain what I was expecting — maybe a predilection towards a gaunt face or something — I wasn’t expecting this.
Of course, the picture of Michael Gambon as Dumbledore that has been released is much more exciting, though I can’t for the life of me pick just what part of the book is being represented. But all we have of 10-year-old Hero Fiennes-Tiffin is a still of him, as 11-year-old Tom Riddle, in his room as Dumbledore comes to visit.

And yes, if that name rings a bell, you’d be right. He is in fact the nephew of actor Ralph Fiennes who plays the sinister Voldemort, whom young Tom Riddle will grow into over the course of the movie.
Either way, this year has had some of the biggest movies for me, and geeks in general, and ending with Harry Potter is not a bad way to go.
Looking good, looking really good. Can’t wait to see more trailers for it (and the final product, that too.)
