In attendance were stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone and producers Avi Arad and Matthew Tolmach. Ever since Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 ran the franchise into the ground and inspired more vitriol than admiration from fans of the movie I’ve welcomed a new director and cast’s take on the legendary Marvel crime-fighter. Judging from the first trailer released late last year the tone Webb is going for is more grounded than the Raimi films but won’t skimp on the outrageous comic book action sequences. Maybe Webb and his cast and crew will do for the Spider-Man movies what filmmakers such as Christopher Nolan, Richard Donner, and Bryan Singer have done for the superhero movie genre in the past.
The Amazing Spider-Man opens on July 3, 2012.
