A strange viral for Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel appeared recently, where General Zod (Michael Shannon) issued the denizens of Earth an ultimatum: bring the last son of Krypton (Henry Cavill) to him or suffer dire consequences. Does the world answer the call or do they stand behind the Man of Steel and fight back? The third trailer for the film has finally arrived, and it answers that question. But also raises a few more about the legendary DC Comics hero.

The first two trailers truly pale in comparison to the third trailer. This one offers us just how large the scope of the film really is. We see Krypton like we’ve never seen it before. We also get to see Superman fight villains like never before – just watching glimpses of those mid-air battles makes me want to watch this trailer again and again. We are seeing Superman in a whole new light, a kind of Superman who is experiencing emotions that audiences rarely ever seen in a hero of Superman’s caliber, and to be honest, I like it. I really can’t call myself the biggest DC Comics fan, nor am I a huge fan of the unstable cinematic world they are creating, but this looks like it is a step in the right direction for that long-awaited Justice League film.

Also starring Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, and more, WB will release Man of Steel in theaters and IMAX on June 14.
