In less than two weeks the moviegoing world will behold Man of Steel, and we will finally see if the very enthusiastic hype that has been building around Zack Snyder‘s much-anticipated reboot of the Superman movie franchise is worth believing.
Warner Bros. has decided to keep the marketing fires burning ultra hot by releasing a 13-minute “publicity special” for the movie. You can watch it here below.
Snyder, writer David Goyer, producer Deborah Snyder, production designer Alex McDowell, and actors Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Lawrence Fishburne, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, and Kevin Costner are all interviewed for this new featurette. It was put together strictly for promotional purposes while allowing the cast and crew to discuss the characters and themes of this bold and epic take on DC Comics’ legendary strange visitor from another planet with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men.
At this time last year who in their right mind would have thought that Man of Steel would be the most buzzed about movie of a summer movie season that so far has also brought us Iron Man, Star Trek, Hangover, and Fast and the Furious sequels with The Wolverine, The Lone Ranger, World War Z, Pacific Rim, and Edgar Wright’s The World’s End all due out by Labor Day? Warners has done an outstanding job promoting the hell out of what once seemed like a questionable project. Snyder, Goyer, and company really seemed to have nailed the tone of what a modern day Superman needs to be, but they have also remembered to maintain the character’s spirit. That’s a dangerous balancing act and a week from this Friday we will see for ourselves if they succeeded. So far, things are looking pretty sweet.

All I hope for from this new Superman movie is that there’s a really big rock that Superman then manages to lift and throw into space. That is all.
