It’s easy to see why Chris Pratt may be attached to or is rumored to be attached to multiple action adventure films across the board. He is funny, charming, and can put up a fight. Which is why people can see him as the new Indiana Jones or why he’s been rumored to be appearing alongside Channing Tatum in the male Ghostbusters reboot.
With Jurassic World just weeks away from release, you can expect journalists to ask about his involvement in either of the projects during the press junket tour. But Pratt seems to have that handled by addressing any and all rumors about projects that seem to be circling him, when it clearly should be the other way around. Short answer, a lot of dreams are about to be shattered. More below.
In an interview with GQ Pratt address those aching rumors, confirming he has no involvement in them.
On the Indiana Jones rumor:
“The truth, as far as he is concerned, is that someone high up at Disney did mention to him a while back that they were picking up the rights to Indiana Jones, to which Pratt commented that his action-adventure card was fairly full.”
This sort of falls in line with what has been reported. Earlier this year, there was a rumor that Disney wanted Pratt to play Indiana Jones. The actor also said he wouldn’t be intimidated by the idea of playing as Indy, but that no one has called him about the role. Even meeting with executive producer Steven Spielberg while on set of Jurassic World, the subject of Indiana Jones never came up: “I just didn’t bring it up and he didn’t bring it up, so I don’t know.”
Now in the interview he doesn’t outright say that he isn’t interested in the role, but he also hasn’t been officially approached for it either. As far as we know there is no story yet, but Lucasfilm is talking about it, and one day a new Indiana Jones will be made under the Disney banner.
On that Channing Tatum/Ghostbuster reboot,
“No one has ever even spoken to me about that. Never. I’ve even seen Channing a couple times. As far as I know, that’s complete bullshit.”
Pratt also adds Knight Rider to that list: “Knight Rider””bullshit. All of them.”
Considering there has been no substantial news on either Ghostbusters or Knight Rider, there isn’t any reason not to believe in Pratt.
