In April 2007, co-publishers Empress Eve and Dave3 launched Geeks of Doom with the goal of bringing geeky entertainment news and features to the masses and to create a haven where the independent geek could voice his/her opinion.
GoD has the inside skinny on the latest geek-related news, comic book, movie, video game, and music reviews, as well as interviews with industry geeks, contests, and giveaways, and articles about everything else that shines under our geeky sun.
We write about what we love! We ARE the comic readers, we are the movie goers, we are the target market. We’re able to write from the perspective of the average unbiased fan, because we ARE those fans.
GoD is independently owned and operated by Empress Eve and Dave3, both of whom have full-time day jobs and a mortgage to pay.

Her freelance work has graced the pages of Guitar World and Maximum Guitar, and she’s served time as a proofreader for High Times magazine (now that’s work). Groovespook
About: Born into abject poverty in rural England, I quickly built a working prototype of the “match stick stealth plane” (later to be stolen by Boeing and used as the basis for the 747) I then single-handedly flew it to Australia where I became a man. Just. During the maturation process I swam to London and became a rave DJ, supplying damp, dark nightclubs with Chill-out Trip-Hop for 4 years before being thrown head-over-heels in love with a crazy American babe, forcing me to throw away all I had known and create a solar powered hydrofoil, zooming to America. and settling in New Jersey, just outside of New York City. Once embedded in the rich consumer landscape of the Tri-state, I began world domination by stealth. I am currently finishing a multi-media studio in my basement in order to launch all manner of creative output to the world at large.

About: A more handsome geek you will never find. The moment your eyes fall upon Joshua S. Hill, freelance writer and author, you will also agree. Many days as a youth writing “The Adventures of Nacho Man” eventually caught up to him after completing a small degree and an apprenticeship, and writing became his life. He now writes from home in Melbourne, Australia, for a bevy of websites, to which he is pleased to add Geeks of Doom. Josh one day hopes to be sold on the shelves next to Tolkien and Barclay… as a fantasy author, not as a human commodity. A book worm of obsessive and neurotic degree, James Barclay and Robin Hobb are his inspirations and models, believing them to be the greatest writers he’s ever read.
To dedicate yourself to more of Josh, make sure to check out his blog at JoshSHill.com where what he believes to be the best of what he writes each day appears; twitter.com/JoshSHill where you can find random thoughts from his work days; and his Diary of a Writer Podcast where, whenever he can, he waxes poetical about the stuff of legends (or at least the legends of stuff!).

The Movie God
About: I’m certainly not a specimen worthy of headlines. I coasted through high school doing the bare minimum to get through un-scathed with a full awareness that these things (does algebra even exist anymore?) were of no use to me where I was going, and boy was I right (take that society!). So here I am with tiny Arial font dreams and no clue what “math” is (stay in school, kids!) out to make my charge! I was born and raised in New Hampshire — one of the states most people are unaware of and just refer to a “Boston” to make it easier.
Favorite Movies: The Princess Bride, Pulp Fiction, Braveheart, The Motorcycle Diaries, Garden State, Adaptation, Pan’s Labyrinth, Sin City, Life is Beautiful, Shaun of the Dead, The Devil’s Backbone, Lord of the Rings, Kill Bill, High Fidelity, City of God, Almost Famous and man, so many more.
Favorite Music: The Shins, The Killers, Slipknot, Elton John, Damien Rice, Mudvayne, Pink Floyd, Mindless Self Indulgence, anything from my new favorite duo Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova and basically all forms of movie scores including those from Hans Zimmer, Thomas Newman, James Newton Howard and so on.
Favorite TV Shows: Family Guy, Firefly, Rome, Lost, American Dad and anything on Food Network (what, I like to cook!).
Favorite Comic/Graphic Novel: I’m new to this area, but am totally addicted to Y: The Last Man, which is so good it makes me sick. Also, Fables and The Runaways.

Inknstein
About: I am an artist and husband and generally a BIG KID. I love to draw and read comics and watch cartoons, all types for American animation to Japanese animation. I am working on my MFA in Traditional Illustration, which I find funny because my style is not the traditional type. I am also working on a children’s book, designing it and drawing it. I am also a college professor who teaches the new and up and coming graphic designers and traditional fine arts. Not your typical college professor by far…

Put sanctions against me also. Arrest me. And put me in the same cell with Bobby Fischer. And give us a chess-set.”

Organic Matter
About: Conceived, born and raised in a backwater country in the old continent, a once-upon-a-time empire of proud sailors, a true melting pot of faith-resigned people, Miguel blessed the world one faithful night when he, for a few seconds, came out of complete unconsciousness after having eye surgery, and with 5 little words… OK so, 4 little words and one not so little, changed not only his life but the life of everyone else, forever: “Dad, i want a PlayStation.” (translated from original Portuguese). From then on the “geekness” had found another victim and in Miguel it had plenty of space to grow and develop until the day when he’d be ready to discover that he was in fact the chosen one. With his multicultural background, being of Jewish and Muslim descent and being raised by a daughter of Buddha, he was able to understand all sides of the most complicated of issues, in other words, he’s paranoid.
Welcome to the world of Miguel Rodrigues where everything is the way it has to be because he says so and there’s a toll-free bridge across the Atlantic, you’re in it even though you don’t know it.

Socrates
About: Socrates is the online pseudonym of a postwar American geek based in the New York City area. Like all the great geeks before him, he grew up in Brooklyn and wore a lot of plaid button-up shirts made out of cotton/polyester blends, decades before such garments came to be viewed as ironically hip by legions of bespectacled, loft-dwelling pansies. Among his numerous talents is the uncanny ability to predict, with only a single glance, the exact number of minutes necessary to perfectly bake any russet potato in a conventional oven. Socrates is D/D-free and is available for casual dating, “friends with benefits”-type relationships, and light copyediting.
