More details of the upcoming Aqua Teen Hunger Force have been revealed. The animated TV stars will supersize their way onto the big screen this fall in their first full-length feature, an action-adventure that delves into the mysterious circumstances which brought Meatwad, Frylock, and Master Shake together.
In the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Movie Film for Theaters, the anthropomorphic fast-food trio must run from an immortal piece of exercice equipment that threatens the balance of galactic peace, while the Plutonians and the Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past team up to gain control of the deadly device.
Aqua Teen series creators Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis wrote and directed the film and will reprise their numerous voice roles. Guest stars include Rush drummer Neil Peart, camp horror actor Bruce Campbell, and two members of the funk band Cameo. Phil Collins and Schoolly D provide music for the film.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force is an animated TV show on the Adult Swim network. It’s about a meatball (Meatwad), a milkshake (Master Shake), and a carton of fries (Frylock) with human-like features who are usually broke and bored, which leads to lots of scheming, destructions, and chaos. They often hang out with their hairy, wifebeater-wearing, begrudging neighborb Carl, who often suffers the consequences of the Aqua Teen’s actions.
The gang can sometimes be found loitering in Carl’s above-ground swimming pool. In one episode, Carl’s pool was covered in blood thanks to metal god Danzig, who guest starred on the show as himself! There are plenty of heavy metal references scattered throughout the series.
For a show with episodes that run only 12 minutes, the series has introduced a large array of characters, including the Atari-graphics-inspired Mooninites whose leader Ignignokt often gives the finger.
The show’s themes go beyond the ridiculous, but I think that’s to be expected from three happy meal items who talk, scheme, and have outerspace encounters. Seasons 1-4 are out now on DVD.
