Free Comic Book Day was a smashing success — at least for us geeks. The Geeks of Doom made the rounds throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan Saturday and gobbled up those freebies. The Captain’s favorite was the Simpsons Bongo Comic; Empress Eve’s was Justice League Unlimited #1.

It’s even rumored that geeks bought some comics. Imagine that Iin fact, the Captain picked up Marvel’s Civil War #1. The dynamic duo of Dave3 and Empress Eve plucked down real cash for Harlan Ellison’s Dream Corridor and Fables Vol. 2: Animal Farm.

Our friends at Essential Comics in Exeter, Pennsylvania, had a blast Saturday, as a Storm Troop Legion (see picture at right) invaded the shop and taught the kids about the Dark Side. Now that sounds like fun.

The Geeks of Doom staff will spend the following week reading those free, and unfree, comics and occasionally working. And sleeping in between.
