- TV Guide has an updated report on the digital remastering of the original STAR TREK television series, which is scheduled to start airing in syndication September 16. The original versions of the show will continue to air on the G4 and TVLand channels for a year or two until the remastering of all episodes is complete. While revisions to the series include CGI tweaks to all 79 episodes, there will be no plot modifications. [Link]
- To coincide with the limited theater run of Tim Burton‘s THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS 3D, a special two-disc soundtrack featuring rocker Marilyn Manson and other artists will be released October 24. One disc will contain the original Danny Elfman score; the other will be cover versions of songs featured in the film. Nightmare in 3D comes to theaters October 20. [Link]
- The Sci Fi Channel will expand its Friday night line-up to include genre-specific programming. Shows will include NIGHT STALKER, an encore presentation of NBC’s new show HEROES, season two of BBC’s DOCTOR WHO, season three of the network’s original series BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, and unaired episodes of the cancelled CBS show THRESHOLD. - Brendan Fraser will return for the proposed third installment of the Universal Pictures second sequel to THE MUMMY, which reportedly will not be titled The Mummy 3. [Link]
- IGN previews issue #7 of the Warren Ellis comic book series DESOLATION JONES, which is scheduled for release by DC/Wildstorm on October 18. The issue marks the return of the ex-spy turned investigator in a new six-part story titled “To Be in England.” [Link]
