Further Adventures in Babysitting

Adventures in BabysittingDisney has hired Tiffany Paulsen to pen the script for Further Adventures in Babysitting, according to Variety.

Paulsen most recently wrote the upcoming Nancy Drew movie, starring Emma Roberts.

Further Adventures is a remake of Disney/Touchstone’s 1987 comedy Adventures in Babysitting, which starred Elisabeth Shue and was directed by Chris Columbus. Raven Symone and Miley Cyrus will star in the remake, with returning producer Lynda Obst.

In the original comedy, Shue starred as a high school senior whose dull night of babysitting turns into a series of wild adventures when she takes the kids into the city to help a friend who’s run away.

One of my favorite parts of the original (which, yes, I did go see at the theater!) was that the little girl Sara was obsessed with the The Mighty Thor comic book character and even wore a plastic replica of his winged helmet! In one scene, she’s convinced that a garage owner (played by an extremely buff Vincent D’Onofrio) is really the Norse god in disguise.

No word yet as to how close the remake will be to the original, but I’m sure it’s safe to say that Thor won’t even get a mention this time around.

  1. REMAKE? That doesn’t make much sense, as the original is still relevant and doesn’t NEED remaking! The title sounds more like an unattached sequel, but still… I’ll happily stand by my DVD of the original, thank you very much!

  2. I loved the originaal. It was great escapist fun and Vincent D’Onofrio was incredibly sexy. When I first saw it I was impressed with Mr. D’Onofrio’s physicality, but down through the years I have become totally captivated by his charisma, superb acting skills, and mesmerizing presence in many films.
He is still incredibly sexy to me, but he is also incredibly talented and interesting. A true star in the best sense of the word!
