StarWars.com has posted the trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: Robot Chicken 30-minute special, to air on the Adult Swim network on June 17 at 10pm.
The creators of the original Robot Chicken series, Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, will be appearing at Star Wars Celebration IV on May 26 and 27 to offer a sneak peek of the special. On May 26, the show’s writing and “toys & sets” teams will hold separate panels to discuss how they produce the show in general, and how they did the Star Wars show in particular.
Star Wars: Robot Chicken spoofs the characters and scenes from the Star Wars saga using stop-motion animation and was made with the approval and input from SW creator George Lucas, who voices his own character in the special. Mark Hamill will lend his voice to his legendary character Luke Skywalker.
Tom Warner, Senior Director of Marketing for Lucasfilm Ltd., had this to say about the project:
“We were big fans of the work that Matt and Seth had done, so when they approached us with the idea to make a Robot Chicken episode dedicated to Star Wars we were really enthusiastic about it … They caught the human and fun side of Star Wars and put an entirely different spin on it. We think Star Wars fans are really going to enjoy it.”
The third season of Robot Chicken begins later this year on Adult Swim.
