Ever since I read this spoiler-filled informative piece in March regarding Disney‘s live-action/animated combo Enchanted, I’ve been searching for something more official. Even though the piece claimed the movie would debut this Thanksgiving, I just had a hard time believing it, since this film has been in development hell for years.
I’m excited to say that the folks over at Film Ick posted links today to the trailer in standard QuickTime format as well as 480p and 720p HD QT (there was a 1020 version, but it doesn’t seem to be working now).
Julie Andrews narrates this romantic comedy, which has 14 minutes of 2D animation spread throughout and stars Amy Adams as Princess Giselle with James Marsden as her fairy tale prince. After she’s banished from her animated sanctuary by an Evil Queen (Susan Sarandon), the fish-out-of-water princess must learn to live among real-life people in the harsh confines of Manhattan! Luckily for her, she meets the handsome non-animated Robert (Patrick Dempsey), while her equally misplaced prince searches for her.
From what I’ve seen in this trailer, it reminds of Splash (one of my favs), except here — unexpectedly — Disney pokes a little fun at itself. You don’t see that very often, especially not on movies they put the “Disney Pictures” label on (as opposed to on one of their “we-want-to-get-away-with-being-a-bit-less-sanitized” subsidiary studios). Being a big Disney fan, I’m totally looking forward to seeing this movie.
Enchanted hit theaters November 21, 2007.
EnchantedMovie.com redirects to the Disney site. The trailer is available there now, but it’s pretty small. Didn’t stop the little man from watching it four times in a row though.
