Howdy Doom Readers & Writers,
Ok, so we’re safely over the technological hump now and our Doom servers are all doing their natural thing like they’s supposed ta be a doin’. The problem was with our DNS router, which figuratively speaking, works out to one of our servers getting lost in the woods and forgetting its own name—a daily occurrence on a soap opera, but not so much for your average server farm. Thankfully, we’s all good again!
Also, as some of you who frequent us good ol’ Geeks O’ Doom may have noticed, we’ve rolled out a fairly substantial update to the sidebar area of the site. We officially launched the site last April with three active contributors and one comp copy of an indie comic for review [thanks Students of the Unusual!] with the hopes to one day cover the latest breaking entertainment news and advanced reviews. Here we are ten months later, having expanded from that small movie and comic site to a modest movie/comic/music/book/gadget/games/etc. site with four staffers and three dozen contributors, and over fifty industry contacts who provide us with countless geekolicious movie & comic news and all manner of products for review. Heck, we publish dozens of news stories and reviews every month, hold weekly contests, and generally geek out in large numbers every free moment we can.
Can I get a ‘Phew!!’? Additionally, might I request a “Heck, Yes!!” with some metal horns \m/ \m/?
Anyhooo, to accommodate the immense amount of talent and diversity that all of our contributors bring to Geeks of Doom on the daily, we’ve redesigned the entire side area to *hopefully* make it easier for all of y’all to find whatchoo lookin’ for. Among the new sidebar features you’ll find links to our newly created Meet the Geeks page, which tells you a little bit about the Geeks of Doom mission and contains fun profiles for each of our amazingly fine posse O’ Geek contributors with tidbits-a-plenty, and to our Links of Doom page, which therein contains links to all of our friends, comrades, colleagues, indie publishers, and generally awesome sites we would love for you to look into when the mood strikes ya.
We’ve been working on these updates for a while now and naturally the day we had planned to finally implement the upgrade (Thursday), in short, server go boom!
In summary, weee!!!
Best,
Dave3
