For those who don’t know, Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Road to Perdition) is working on a new movie. Very un-like American Beauty, this untitled film is a romantic comedy, but it’s through Focus Features, so I’m not quite expecting My Best Friend’s Wedding here.

THR has informed us that the film has added two new cast members in Jeff Daniels (Dumb and Dumber, The Squid and the Whale) and Catherine O’Hara (Home Alone, For Your Consideration).

The film already stars Maya Rudolph (SNL) and John Krasinski (The Office, Leatherheads) as a couple expecting a child who are traveling around the country to find the best place to settle down and raise a family.

The cast also includes Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense, Little Miss Sunshine), Allison Janney (Juno), and Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm).

The script is being written by Dave Eggers (in the news recently for his Where the Wild Things Are work) and his wife, Vendela Vida.
