Ah vampires, is there anything they can’t add to?
I say no, and that is why I’m more than happy to hear about a horde of vampires attacking the Knights Templar. Or at least, that seems to be the plot of a new movie picked up by Universal Pictures.
The script by Adam Torchia and Justin Stanley will focus on the historical Knights Templar (for a given value of “historical”), fresh from their crusades, fending off a vampire army which, for whatever reason, feels the need to destroy the Holy Grail (for a given definition of Holy Grail).
The movie will be directed by Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov, who is best known for his Night Watch movies, and will be produced by Marc Platt, who many of you will know as the producer of the upcoming Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
Adam Torchia however is a new name to many of us, as he’s been working as an assistant story editor for Universal for the past 10 years. Torchia met partner Stanley at a wedding several years ago, where they found themselves to be likeminded, traded ideas, and started writing on the Knights Templar idea, apparently an idea of Stanley’s late friend, Ian Rothkerch.
Either way, Vampires + Knights Templar = great popcorn movie!
Sounds like a total rip off of Dracula vs. King Arthur. Seriously. I hope someone stands up for the Beraneks on this one.
