Yahoo! has posted the full-length trailer for Igor, the upcoming CG-animated feature from The Weinstein Company and Exodus Film Group.
John Cusask goes back to his mad scientist ways (remember that awesome scene in Better Off Dead when the hamburgers come to life and dance to Van Halen’s “Everybody Wants Some”?), voicing the title character, a hunchbacked lab assistant with dreams of winning Malaria’s annual Evil Science Fair.
Joining Cusack in the voice cast are Steve Buscemi, John Cleese, Jennifer Coolidge, Arsenio Hall, Sean Hayes, Eddie Izzard, Jay Leno, James Lipton, Molly Shannon, and Christian Slater.
Igor hits theaters on September 19, 2008.
Watch the trailer over at Yahoo! — make sure you choose one of the high definition options. This movie has excellent visuals that are completely lost on Yahoo!’s lousy standard play.
I got a chance to see this trailer twice at the New York Comic Con last month, and I immediately loved it. And honestly and truly, I’ve been meaning to do a write-up about this panel, which was the very last of the Con. I’d never heard of it before that weekend, but was immediately impressed after watching the trailer and was even more endeared to movie after its creators — Tony Leondis (Lilo & Stitch 2) and writer Chris McKenna (American Dad) — spoke at the panel. Now that the trailer is out, check back soon for my coverage of the panel where the creators spoke about how and why they made the film, as well as about some other scenes from the movie not yet shown to the general public.
Synopsis
A playfully irreverent animated comedy which brings a new twist to the classic monster genre, Igor is the story of a mad scientist’s hunchbacked lab assistant who has big dreams of becoming a scientist in his own right and winning the coveted first place award at the annual Evil Science Fair in the kingdom of Malaria.
