Here’s the debut submission from my 10-year-old nephew “LiLSyKo” (also known around these parts as Gaming Nephew), who is well-versed in many video game genres across all gaming platforms. He hopes you enjoy his review of this game and that you too have fun playing it. He also wants you to know that although this game is rated M for Mature, he did receive permission from his parents to play it.

Hello, this is LiLSyKo and as you can see by the title I’m going to tell you about the Playstation 2 game Devil May Cry 3, the prequel to the first Devil May Cry video game. Now I know pretty much everything about the game so I can give you a lot of information and you might wanna get the game yourself.
The first and second mission tell you a lot about the backstory of the game. Also, in those two missions you are basically just fighting enemies but here’s a good tip about them — if you need red orbs, which is practically money in DMC3, you can get up to 1000 red orbs in both missions plus a rank bonus. If you are wondering what a rank bonus is, it is the extra red orbs you get for getting obtaining an A, B, or C rank. If you get an A rank, you get an additional 3000 orb bonus. For a B you get a 2000 orb bonus… as you can see it deducts by 1000 each rank.
Now it’s time to tell you about the crazy weapons that I know you will like. My personal favorite is Agni and Rudra, but I will get to that later. The first weapon you get is Cerberus, a 3-headed dog that turns into triple nunchucks. My favorite move is the revolver. What the Revolver does is it spins you around attacking enemies. A move that you can do is when you lock onto someone and press the attack button.
Now to tell you about my favorite weapons, Agni and Rudra, the twin swords of fire and wind. My favorite move of all time is done with Agni and Rudra, it’s my favorite because this move attacks anything that gets in its way. It is called Tempest and what it does is fire completely surrounds you and there is a tornado surrounding the fire. That’s all I’m telling on the weapons, but there are a lot more.
Since I don’t want to spoil anything, I am just going to say a little about the story. In DMC3 the main character’s name is Dante and the villain is his brother Vergil. They are both sons of the legendary Dark Night Sparda. The reason they call him this is because Sparda rebelled against his own demon kind for the sake of the human race by closing the portal to Hell but because he was a demon himself, he was trapped in Hell as well. [My Aunt tells me that Dante and Virgil (different spelling) are from a book called Dante’s Inferno and that they travel through the nine circles of Hell and that one day I will read this book in college.]
Vergil and Dante were both half demon and half human because their mother was a human. I don’t know when or why Vergil became evil but Dante stayed good and made a shop for hunting demons but he wasn’t opened for business because he never thought of a name of the business until the end of DMC3.
That is all I have to say without spoiling anything for this good game that I definitely enjoyed and I hope that you do too. This is LiLSyKo saying goodbye.
I don’t play too many videogames, but this is a great review, especially for a first-timer!

Great review! Do a little bit of gaming, but I really like to sit back and watch a game-master like LiLSyKo show his chops!
I really encourage you to read Dante at some point.
Thanks for a great first review!

Everything I’ve heard about this video game series tells me it would be a lot of fun. I should probably start all the way at the beginning though, huh? You’ll have to review DMC4 in the future!

Thank you everyone for your comments.
@WordSlinger
I’m just saying it’s a good idea to actually start with the third game because the real chronological order of the stories in the games are 3, 1, 4, 2.

You had me at “3-headed dog that turns into triple nunchucks.” ^_^
Great job!
I’ve always loved Capcom games and I’ve been curious about this series for a while. Someday, I’ll blow the dust off my PS2……. someday……

Excellent review Mr. SyKo!
I’m one of the weird ones who skipped the XBox/PS2 stage and went from a PS1 to a 360, but if I ever get a PS2 (I do love me some God of War), I’ll be sure to check out Devil May Cry!

@The Movie God
You can still play Devil May Cry because the fourth game of DMC is out for PS3 and Xbox 360. The fourth is very similar to the third game, so you can still enjoy it. Also, in the fourth one, Dante isn’t the only main character. You are two characters, which is Dante and another guy (don’t want to spoil it).

I am the same as you – I skipped the whole PS2/Xbox phase and just purchased a PS3, so I am slowly working my way back into the gaming world. This game sounds awesome!! Excellent review.

I’ve never played any DMC games but this review has made me want to check them out. And the promise of a 3-headed dog that turns into triple nunchucks is the ugly, violent cherry on top!
Good job LilSyKo!

Hey, LiLSyKo nice review I have actually wanted to check this game out for awhile.
Anyway, can’t wait to hear more reviews from you.

“My favorite move is the revolver. What the Revolver does is it spins you around attacking enemies.”
I LOVE the enthusiasm you show for this game. I wish I could get this enthusiastic about ANTHING. You are a very charming and capable writer.
In have NEVER played this game before but MY favorite move is ALSO to spin around and attack my enemies, because this takes them by surprise, especially if you do it in church.
But that’s ANOTHER thing you’ll learn when you go to college.
I genuinely enjoyed your review and I hope you write more. I’m happy to see someone write something for the sheer delight of sharing something they enjoy. It makes me wish I was 10 years old again…

I think the only DMC game I’ve played is 2, but I remember having fun with it. If I had enough time to devote to more video games, I’d have to make time for DMC 3. Great review.

The last game I played was Atari ping pong in 1978 but I must say upon reading LilSyco’s review, I’m thrilled to see such excellent writing skills coming from a ten year old! Keep on truckin lil one.

But what’s the name of Dante’s demon hunting shop? I have a bit of a demon problem in my apartment and I’d like to contact him. Maybe he’s in the Yellow Pages…
Great review. It made me excited to play DMC4, which will be my first DMC game. I know the story is really deep, so I’m a little worried I won’t know what’s going on since I didn’t play the other games. I hear the other ones are super hard, especially DMC2, which is one reason I never played them.
Looking forward to more reviews from the LiLSyKo.
