The teaser trailer is now online for David Fincher‘s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, the big-screen adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald short story.

The teaser is the English version of the previously released Spanish-language trailer, so we finally know what’s being said in the brief opening and closing narrations.

In the film, Brad Pitt stars as the titular character, born strangely into the world as an old man who then ages in reverse.

The film, which also stars Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton, and Julia Ormond, hits theaters on December 19, 2008.

While I really love this teaser trailer, I feel like perhaps the filmmakers are showing us too much. It looks as if we see Pitt’s character in every stage of his life. I’ve read the short story (which made it onto my Books To Film 2008 list of books to read before seeing the movie this year), so I’m not so much “spoiled” by what’s in the trailer, but even I thought I was seeing too much. What about the people who don’t know the story?

Either way, I think Fincher has a winner on his hands and that Brad Pitt might actually get some critical recognition for his role in the film.
