Yesterday, we posted the somewhat controversial cover of EW‘s latest issue, which hit stands today (see EW’s “˜Twilight’ Cover). The cover features Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, the stars of Twilight, the big-screen adaptation of the Stephenie Meyer teen vampire book, but fans aren’t so happy with the young couple’s appearance, as it doesn’t accurately depict their literary characters.
The issue’s lengthy cover feature, which is now available online (see the four-page main feature), contains several more images and another story that talks about director Catherine Hardwicke‘s casting of the young lovers. Apparently, Hardwicke wasn’t too impressed with the 22-year-old Pattinson, best known for his role as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. But Pattinson managed to really impress the director in person with his steamy audition with Stewart.
[Director Catherine] Hardwicke had seen a picture of Robert Pattinson, a 22-year-old Brit best known as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, but had been underwhelmed. So Pattinson flew to meet with Hardwicke at her home in Venice, Calif. His audition consisted of a love scene with Stewart on Hardwicke’s bed. ”It was electric,” Hardwicke says. ”The room shorted out, the sky opened up, and I was like, ‘This is going to be good.”’
And if the movie is anything like Pattinson’s audition, it’s gonna be hot!
