At last month’s press junket for Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Hellboy creator Mike Mignola said that he would be returning to do art for his chief creation, as well as some other projects he wouldn’t reveal at the time.
As it turns out, Mignola’s first issue back was revealed earlier this week when Dark Horse posted its release schedule for the month of October. Among the titles to see print that month was a new Hellboy one-shot, under the title Hellboy: In the Chapel of Moloch.
The solicitation text reveals:
On the heels of the second Hellboy feature film, legendary artist and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola returns to the drawing table for this standalone adventure of the world’s greatest paranormal detective!
Hellboy investigates an ancient chapel in Eastern Europe where an artist compelled by something more sinister than any muse has sequestered himself to complete his “life’s work.”
This will be the first Hellboy story that Mignola has done the art for since 2005, and it’s very much a welcome return, as many fans have been anxious to see more art from the characters’ creator. The comic will go on sale October 29, 2008. I’ll be on the lookout for this one when it reaches store shelves.
