The Boys — a currently still in-production comic by Garth Ennis that was recently pick up for a movie treatment — has found its writing duo in Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, who have written Crazy/Beautiful, The Tuxedo, and Aeon Flux.
The Boys follows a group of C.I.A. agents (called The Boys) who exists in your typical comic book world with superheroes running around. Their job is to sort of moderate these superheroes, deal with them when needed, and sometimes even kill them off. Ennis himself has even said that this series would out-do his very own Preacher in terms of violence and other things. Not an easy feat.
Speaking of Preacher, we all know how much trouble that’s having in being made into a movie/TV show, so I wouldn’t even go and get my hopes up for this one yet. And not to sound negative, but I’m not sure that if I was a fan of this series, I’d be thrilled about the dude’s that wrote Aeon Flux and The Tuxedo writing this. My gut says it may just end up looking more like Four Brothers — with superheroes.
Either way, this all makes me interested in the comic, so that’s a plus!
