  1. I remember someone commenting on how Geeks of Doom has an absurd level of Amazon promotion but I dind’t think much of it. This, however, strikes me as a bit much. It isn’t a good deal and Twilight is lame. You guys must have some kind of deal with Amazon. I may be wrong, but wow…that is a whole lot of Amazon.

  2. Better Deal: Don’t buy Twilight, Don’t get the digital version immediately(Muhahahahaha). Instead, buy something with more death and less sparkly fairy-vampires in it. Like, a Romero zombie box set or anything with Bruce Campbell attached.

If you don’t Stephen King will electrocute you in the near future.

    This I swear.

  3. Joseph, if you were a Twilight fan, and I’m not saying you are, you’d probably want to know if an ultra sparkly-twinkle box set existed since it probably won’t hit mainstream stores.

So it sort of is news. But I completely bashed the Sparkle Magic box set and I am a GoD Staffer. If you’d like me to do it again, I can dutifully do so sir.

  4. If a “Deal” isn’t something you’re interested in, then just move on. It’s there for people who ARE interested and want to know about it. We happen to have A LOT of Twilight fans that read GoD, so this is for them (and their moms).

I believe that getting a FREE INSTANT DOWNLOAD of a movie you want to see right away IS a good deal.

And I’ll say it again — this is the INTERNET, there’s plenty of space for a small article about a dvd sale. It’s not taking the place of something else. Don’t sweat it. We have a partnership with Amazon, just like most entertainment sites do, but I link to them because I’m aware of their deals and find their service to be better than say Best Buy. I, personally, buy everything from them. BUT, if I found out about a good deal somewhere else on the internet, I’d post that too.

And I think your “absurd level” comment is a bit absurd in itself; even if I posted one deal per day (which I don’t, because not ALL of the deals are movie/books/music), that would not be a large amount. Let’s not get carried away.

  5. Well, see there! You do have a deal with Amazon! And give me a break, you link to them because they are a partner! It keeps everything running smooth, you have to do it. Can’t blame you there. How I didn’t guess earlier is quite absurd in itself, considering there is always an amazon ad on the GoD page. I know that the deals don’t get in the way of the other stuff and I really like the site. It just hit me once I saw the Twilight deal and wondered how a site called GEEKS of doom and not LAMEASSES of doom would promote it. Just kidding, kind of.

  6. @Joseph
I can put up Hanna Montana shit too and make tons of money, but I don’t. I have personally covered Twilight panels and events, and have given away Twilight prizes. Geeks of Doom has always covered Twilight from the very beginning, BEFORE the insane phenomenon, when it was just another book being turned into a film. We have no reason to stop covering it now, especially since it’s a proven fact that we have thousands of readers who love Twilight.

And like you said, I link to them because I’m a partner, but I don’t HAVE TO. But give ME a break, I get like 10 cents when someone buys a DVD, it’s not like I’m raking in the dough by linking to them. I AM an Amazon customer and have been long before I opened this site, and it’s because I like them. Also, like I mentioned before, if I was aware of a different deal with another vendor, I’d have put that with this piece as well.

I guess you and others who complain maybe don’t realize that EVERY OTHER SITE is partnered with them too and posts their stuff. You know all those Aint It Cool News posts where they tell you about deals and about their favorite DVDs and such? Guess what, those are ALL linked to Amazon and I’m quite sure that AICN news is making WAY more than me, so much so that they don’t need day jobs like I do.

But, I know you’re a longtime reader, I know you comment all the time, and I appreciate it, very much. The only reason I bothered to respond to you is because you’re a loyal reader and I don’t want you to think we’re major whores, lol. But, c’mon, let me earn 10 cents here and there with a legitimate post without being crucified. This site takes a lot of time and money to run — it’s a business, as well as something that is fun in my life. So, try not to take personal offense to my Twilight post, lol, and remember, I’m the little guy in this big internet world.

  7. I totally understand your position and I am not going to stop reading Geeks of Doom, it still sits as one of only six sites on my Opera speed dial. I am really glad you posted that last post, it cleared up everything for me. Call me dense but I didn’t think that you recieved any payment for the ads, and if I was in your shoes, I would do the same thing. The knocks on Twilight are purely personal, I know many many people are infatuated with it. Again, I am sorry if I have offended anyone but look at the good side of this…one more educated reader to defend your position the next time this comes up!
    Keep up the good work!
