In case you’ve yet to hear the news — announced in July of 2008 — yes a third movie in the Harold and Kumar saga is on the way and production on A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas is already underway as you read these words.
In March, star John Cho claimed that the movie was not only coming but coming soon with hopes of filming by June. If you’ll go ahead and check your calenders, you’ll clearly see that we are in June, making Cho’s comments rather refreshing considering how often quotes like that actually prove true. At that time, the big question mark was whether co-star Kal Penn would be able to return due to the fact that he had left his gig on House in order to take on the job of Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement for President Barack Obama.
It was later revealed that Penn would be vacating his political post to take part in Harold & Kumar 3, leaving us only to wonder if the universally-popular Neil Patrick Harris would return or not. The actor, who plays himself in the first and second movies, met head-to-head with a bit of trouble in Escape From Guantanamo Bay, but this is Neil Patrick Harris we’re talking about here.
While speaking to Hollywood.com on the set of his upcoming movie The Smurfs, Patrick Harris confirmed that he would be returning once again. The actor didn’t offer any details about how or when he’d return, just that he would be, but do we need anything else? Just the confirmation is enough.
No release date is known yet, but it’s expected that A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas will come out some time in and around the holiday season.
