Director Peter Jackson has posted to his Facebook page the second production video blog from the set of The Hobbit movies in New Zealand.
This new video blog was shot at the end of the first block of filming just as many of the cast and crew were going off on break until September, so there’s interview footage of everyone saying what they are going to do during this time off. As you’ll see, Jackson will only be stepping back from directing, as he still has to do script rewrites, video editing, and location scouting, as well as other responsibilities. The video shows some of the beautiful locations they are looking into using, as well as new sets. There’s also some behind-the-scenes footage from the film, including Andy Serkis doing a motion-capture scene as Gollum (Serkis is also a second-unit director on the film), as well as a snippet of a scene with Bilbo (Martin Freeman) and Elrond (Hugo Weaving).
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits theaters on December 14, 2012 with its second part, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, scheduled for December 13, 2013.
