Children of ParanoiaChildren of Paranoia
Hardcover | Kindle
By Trevor Shane
Dutton
Release Date: September 8, 2011

There are two main rules that come with fighting in this war:

Rule #1: No killing of innocent bystanders.
Rule #2: No killing of anyone under the age of 18.

If any of these are broken, then this war will turn on you and you will be the target.

In Children of Paranoia, Joseph has been an assassin in a war that he doesn’t completely understand. Killing people is all he’s known to do and he’s the best at it. While Joseph prepares for a particularly dangerous job, he meets a college student named Maria and falls in love with her. Now, Joseph must fight to escape a war that he’s worked all his life to combat while he protects the one that he loves.

Children of Paranoia is a thrilling and intense read. The debut novel by author Trevor Shane was one book that I could not put down. The plot about a war with no known reasons for fighting made the story that much more enjoyable. The author made you want to disagree with the reasons behind Joseph’s decisions to fight this war. Those reasons made Joseph look like the undefined hero and villain. When the story intensifies, the reader wants Joseph to escape the war and have a real life with the love of his life thus becoming a true hero. The story is mainly told from the viewpoint of Joseph. Then, the viewpoint changes in one point of the story to Maria’s viewpoint. I really liked Shane’s choice of telling multiple angles of the story.

The ending made me want the next book immediately. I want to see what happens with these characters and figure out what is the outcome of the end of Children of Paranoia. Trevor Shane definitely has an exciting story to tell and I look forward to him wowing me with his next adventure in this series.

Overall, Children of Paranoia is one crazy adventure with twists and turns that will excite readers who love a little action in their stories. Trevor Shane is one powerhouse of a writer that should be on everyone’s radar. The man knows how to write an awesome story and I’m looking forward to the next book.
