The careers of Matt Dillon and Naomi Watts couldn’t be more different. One, Watts, has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, and the other, Dillon, is a relatively middling star, even on the indie front. However, the two appear to be converging on a brand new project.
Original Media has announced that the two have begun shooting on Sunlight Jr., a new indie film written and directed by Laurie Collyer.
The film will follow “two have-nots who have fallen through the cracks of society. Hard-working convenience store clerk Melissa (Naomi Watts) and her paraplegic boyfriend, Richie (Matt Dillon), are trapped in a generational cycle of poverty and ignorance. They are genuinely excited when they learn that Melissa is pregnant. But when she loses her job and they are evicted from the motel where they live, things go from bad to worse.”
Now, as a fan of both parties involved, this is definitely a film I can’t wait to check out. Watts is one of the greatest actresses around, and Dillon is an actor that continues to do more and more interesting work. Sure, this may not be a world changing project, but with this great team behind the project, it’s hard not to get excited.
