This year marked the 30th anniversary of the release of Raiders of the Lost Ark, the original (and still the best) of the Indiana Jones series. To celebrate the occasion animator Jeff Gurwood decided to pay homage to the movie that first brought together Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Harrison Ford with a stop-motion animated recreation of Raiders‘ famous opening sequence.
You can watch Gurwood’s video here below.
Gurwood animated this sequence using the film’s original audio track, dialogue and John Williams music and all, and it ends up being worlds more fun than having Indy fighting Commies and the unwanted attention of Shia LaBeouf. It’s like something you’d see on Robot Chicken, only without the irony and gore.
This is a clever and well-done tribute to a classic cinematic adventure.
