Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Color this writer not shocked.

With David Fincher‘s latest film, his take on The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, hitting to solid reviews despite a lackluster take at the box office, Sony is hellbent on making the entire Millennium Trilogy.

The studio has announced that they will indeed be going forward with a big screen adaptation of the second book, The Girl Who Played With Fire. The film is set to bow in late 2013, and while it remains to be seen who will helm it, both Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig will be back in the fold.

Fincher has said previously that he’d like to helm the sequels, but it still seems possible that they may tap another filmmaker. Personally, if Fincher is back, my excitement will be through the roof. I loved the first film, as it sat in the #10 spot for my Top 10 films of this past year, and hope that this could be just as stunning. Fingers are definitely crossed.
