Back in April, it was reported that The Help star Jessica Chastain was in talks to appear in Iron Man 3 as a sexy scientist and the female equivalent of Tony Stark. Chastain would have joined Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle, all of whom are reprising their respective roles, and newcomers Ben Kingsley and Guy Pierce. But even with the allure of being a part of a blockbuster superhero franchise like Iron Man 3, Chastain could not find a way to fit the film into her schedule and had to pass on the role.
Chastain posted this statement on her Facebook page:
“Sorry to say that Iron Man 3 isn’t going to work out. My schedule is jammed packed and I can’t fit anything else in. The press announced my possible attachment far too soon. I know many of you wanted me to be involved, and I’m so sorry to disappoint you. Hopefully there’ll be another Marvel film in my future. Shane Black and everyone on the IM3 team are really wonderful. I’m very excited to see the film when it comes out. xx”
While I was excited to see Chastain in a film such as Iron Man 3, I’m sure that we will be seeing her face in some big budget franchise role very soon. I am also sure that director Shane Black and his team are looking for someone equally as good and maybe better (like that’s possible) to fulfill the role of the sexy scientist. I presume that we are going to hear of someone being cast soon as filming is expected to begin later this month.
