Guardians of the Galaxy

Marvel still has a vacant May 16th 2014 release on their slate. With Captain America 2 taking a very surprising April 4th 2014 release, there was some speculation that the film taking the May 2014 date would be either Guardians of the Galaxy, or Edgar Wright’s long-gestating Ant-Man.

Then came word that the the studio was working on a movie for Black Panther. While that hasn’t been confirmed, Marvel seems to be setting their sights on Guardians of the Galaxy, which would be just one of the stepping stones that lead up to The Avengers 2.

Again nothing has been confirmed, but Latino Review has word that Guardians of the Galaxy will be the film to be announced as Marvel’s 2014 release. The site is a very reliable source as they have provided many reports that have ended up being true, despite a studio’s strong denial. According to the report the film will be set in the 31st century and feature a rag tag of sole surviving members of an alien race battling an evil group called the Badoom.

Of course since this is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Guardians will have to travel back in time where they will cross paths with The Avengers. There is also word that that Thanos will be in the movie, which again, will be one of the steps that lead up to The Avengers 2. The site also says that the script is incredible.

Nothing is confirmed; as of right now, Marvel is keeping everything close to the chest. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Guardians of the Galaxy does take the May 16th, 2014 release. The studio barely tapped space in The Avengers, so it should be exciting to see if Marvel decides to take their audiences through time and space. Personally I think it’s about time we see just how expansive the Marvel Cinematic Universe really is, and I think that there is no better group to explore it than Guardians of the Galaxy.

  2. Looks as Marvel is taking some chances! That’s awesome. I just hope they make a good Dr. Strange movie one day…
