James Gunn Reflects On Disney Firing and Rehiring

Last summer, James Gunn was in the midst of preparing for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the closing installment of the Guardians trilogy. What happened after that can only be described as a whirlwind of crazy. First he was fired by Disney for some old tweets that were dug up. Then he was hired by WB to write The Suicide Squad, which eventually led to him directing as well. Finally, he was rehired by Disney to finish the Guardians trilogy.
The filmmaker, who is usually vocal on social media, has been silent about those recent events. At least up until now. Gunn is now opening up about what has happened to him, how he thought he would never be rehired, and the status of both The Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. See what he had to say below.

Chris Pratt Says James Gunn’s ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’ Script Will Be Used
|

The film, which was set to begin production this month for a 2021 release, has been put on an indefinite hold after Disney fired James Gunn for tasteless jokes he posted on Twitter over a decade ago. Even though the director has repeatedly apologized for these tweets, the studio felt that they could not be associated with anyone who made awful jokes and terminated their relationship despite him giving the studio two successful films and the keys to developing a comic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While Gunn is no longer working on the film, there are talks that his script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 could still be used. Sean Gunn, his brother, stated that it would be. And now Star Lord himself, Chris Pratt, is saying that it will be used, and that the script is “off the chain.†More on the report below.
