IDW Publishing announced today that the first printing of the Comic Book History of Comics by Fred Van Lente and Ryan Dunlavey has sold out, and that they are going back to print.

Now normally, I don’t give two figs when a comics publisher announces a new printing of a sold out book, but I had to show this off for a couple of reasons.

First, because I have read the Comic Book History of Comics and it is an amazing book that is a must-read for any fan of the medium.

Second, because I have read the Comic Book History of Comics and it is an amazing book that is a must-read for anyone who’s not a fan of the medium, or at least is only a casual fan. The series is done with buckets full of charm and humor and is just one of the most enjoyable books I have read all year.

Third, most of these reprint announcements are just sent over in a fairly boring press release. Not so with this one. This is the best press release I’ve ever seen and I think all press releases should be done in this style from now on. Check it out below and make sure you seek out the Comic Book History of Comics.
