Earlier today we reported that Fox was negotiating a deal with Marvel Studios in order to keep the Daredevil property. The deal was that in order to keep Daredevil, Fox had to give Galactus and the Silver Surfer, two very important characters from the Fantastic Four, to Marvel Studios. Fox wouldn’t be in this character situation had it not been for David Slade pulling away from bringing them a Daredevil movie into production before the October 10, 2012 deadline. So if this deal looks too good to be true, it’s because it is.
Many reported the aforementioned news. Had the deal gone through as reported, it would have opened the doors wide open in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Avengers vs Galactus would have been just awesome to watch. Alas, the news was premature, as Deadline now says that Fox doesn’t want to give up either Galactus or the Silver Surfer, and will let go of Daredevil in order to keep those characters.
Someone at Fox has done their homework because giving them up would hurt the future of the Fantastic Four reboot. There was also some hope that Joe Carnahan would come in to direct the new Daredevil movie, but no official deal had been made.
Even though Fox will be letting go of Daredevil, they will continue on with their other Marvel properties: X-Men and the Fantastic Four. So it’s not a real big loss for the studio, seeing that they are moving on with a sequel for X-Men: First Class and Josh Trank’s reboot of the Fantastic Four.
Daredevil has the potential to be a great cinematic hero, and now that it looks like the property will land back in the hands of Marvel, the studio will have an opportunity to figure out a script and make a great film.

here’s hoping to a brighter future
