Two of Marvel Comics’ best creators, writer Matt Fraction and artist Mark Bagley, are headed to family drama and super hero goodness with the start of their run on the Marvel NOW! title The Fantastic Four!
In this story our four heroes are an expanded family with the addition of two super-powered kids. Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben – along with Franklin and Valeria – begin their epic journey through all of infinite time and space.
Take a look at these early pages here below of issue one of the series before it hits store shelves and the digital outlets in November! The retro logo and cover design is pretty great!
The journey into infinite space is really about all there is to know about the new story direction for this series, but just that alone sounds like some good decisions are being made at the House of Ideas. The Fantastic Four, more than any other Earth-based Marvel series, best bridges the standard super hero universe with the cosmic from the early FF books where Reed first visited the Negative Zone (yes Negative Zone not the later renamed “N” zone) to all of the great Galactus stories and even run-ins with the watcher. Taking a sort of Lost in Space approach to this family-based super hero series seems like a ton of fun and it’ll further set it apart from the other Marvel NOW! books.
