Chris Cullari takes us back to the terrifying knife wielding maniacs that were the subject of many a late night chat during that special childhood event called The Sleepover. The object was to scare each other so bad that no one actually got to sleep. It’s also the title and subject of Cullari’s new short-short horror film. You can watch the trailer below.
Eric and Tom are having a sleepover. One of them is new to the town of Derry. The other, whose house the new kid is sleeping over, makes a big production out of checking under the bed and asks his new friend, “You did check the closet, right?”
Naturally, as young boys are apt to do, the new kid laughs off the story of a local masked serial killer known as The Slasher. Until he opens the closet door and finds out the messy way. Good thing the babysitter is also a killer of serial killers, but she does charge extra for that service.
The Sleepover is a quick burst of fresh, raw fear that neatly severs the logic portion of your brain so fast you don’t actually realize it until you’re looking at the bloody evidence through your reptilian fear center. It is also the winner of numerous awards, including Fantastic Fest – Best Horror Short Runner Up; Shriekfest – Best Super Short (Film Under 10 Minutes); Knoxville Horror Film Fest – Palm d’Gore (Best Film); Vassar Film Fest; Hal-Con FilmFest; and, most recently, winner of “The Cabin In the Woods”/Lionsgate/Vimeo Horror Short Film Contest.
