A new teaser trailer has been released unto the unsuspecting internet for Riddick. This trailer reveals the long suspected third part of the David Twhoy Pitch Black trilogy.
Vin Diesel returns as the monster/space death-cult fighting antihero Riddick in the possible blockbuster but most likely newest cult sensation movie.
Watch the teaser and read my thoughts on it below the cut.
What I Learned:
Flying alien dinosaurs, you better watch out. Those stories the elder lizards told you as a hatchling are true. The boogey man is real. He can see in the dark. He’ll be lying in the alien desert planet dying from exposure one minute and choking you to death with the grip of a hardened criminal the next. This boogey man’s name, now dead alien dinosaur, is Riddick.
Why I’ll Watch:
I loved Pitch Black. Send a monster to fight monsters? Perfect.
I liked The Chronicles of Riddick. Conan in space? You had me at Iron Throne in space.
Now with Riddick (2013) I’ve learned from the official synopsis that Riddick has been left for dead on a “sun-scorched planet” and is once again fighting an “alien race of predators.” I guess movie plots, like life, must always bend to circles.
As a secret fan of the Riddick series of films I knew that Twohy had decided the Pitch Black universe would become a trilogy. And now thirteen years, two live-action films, one animated movie, a rather substantial movie universe mythology, and two video games later we’ll finally get to see what the last(?) Riddick movie is all about. How did he ditch the Necromongers? Are there more Furyans? With a cast that lists Karl Urban returning as Vaako and Katee Sackhoff playing a character named Dahl you can be damn sure that I’m going to find out.
When’s it coming?
