We just found out that The Hunger Games: Catching Fire star Alan Ritchson has been cast as Raphael in the Michael Bay-produced and Jonathan Liebesman-directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and now comes actors for the remaining three turtles.
It’s being reported that Jeremy Howard will be playing Donatello in the movie, Noel Fisher is playing Michelangelo, and Pete Ploszek will be Leonardo. All of the turtle (yes, yes, we all like them) roles will be performance capture, along the same lines as James Cameron’s Avatar.
Howard isn’t exactly a household name, but it’s likely that you’d recognize him if you saw him. The actor has appeared in movies such as Galaxy Quest, Men in Black II, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and various TV shows. He stands out because he’s very tall and very skinny. And no, because this is performance capture, Donatello will not be towering over the other turtles.
Fisher has appeared in Liebesman’s Battle Los Angeles and The Twilight Saga as Vladimir, as well as Showtime’s Shameless. Ploszek has appeared in an episode of Shameless as well, and an episode of Parks and Recreation.
Next up to cast is the movie’s villain, Shredder, and—it’s assumed—the rat Splinter, the teenage turtles’ also mutated mentor, master, and adoptive father. The April O’Neil character has already been cast, with Transformers star Megan Fox set for the role.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released on June 6, 2014.
