DC Universe will be an online hub for all things DC Comics. Not only is it a place to access classic shows and read some great comics books, it will also be a place for original content like Titans. The show based on the younger heroes of DC Comics will see Robin (Brenton Thwaites) bring a group of superpowered beings like Raven (Teagan Croft), Starfire (Anna Diop), and Beast Boy (Ryan Potter) to become a new group of defenders. While reactions have been mixed, DC Universe has ordered a second season of the show right before the first one is supposed to air. Which is an extremely high vote of confidence. More on this, plus a new trailer here below.

Deadline confirms that Titans Season 2 has been ordered ahead of the Season 1 premiere. The show will have a much darker tone than the bubblegum pop and colorful Teen Titans Go animated show that airs on Cartoon Network. And the new trailer doesn’t take too long to show how mature it is. As if the first trailer with Robin declaring “fuck Batman” wasn’t enough of a sign.

But this isn’t the only DC comics show that will be airing on the DC entertainment platform. Other shows like Swamp Thing, Doom Patrol, and Stargirl are also in the works. As you can see, DC will be turning their attention to lesser-known characters. Which is great because now they get to be fully realized for fans who have been waiting for their heroes to be on screen. It’s worked for Legends Of Tomorrow. So it will be interesting to see how general audiences will react and if the service can expand beyond the four shows.

As for the trailer itself, well, we can see why it may not be on broadcast TV. It’s pretty bloody. The violence is brutal. And there will be sex. So it’s safe to say that this isn’t for kids. So let’s just hope that as dark as this show is, there will be substance to it. Of course, since Season 2 has been ordered, it looks like DC Universe believes they have a hit on their hands.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

From executive producers Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, and Greg Berlanti, TITANS follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In this action-packed series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven and others.

Titans debuts on the DC Universe subscription service on October 12, 2018.
