DC Universe will be an online hub for all things DC Comics. Not only is it a place to access classic shows and read some great comics books, it will also be a place for original content like Titans. The show based on the younger heroes of DC Comics will see Robin (Brenton Thwaites) bring a group of superpowered beings like Raven (Teagan Croft), Starfire (Anna Diop), and Beast Boy (Ryan Potter) to become a new group of defenders. While reactions have been mixed, DC Universe has ordered a second season of the show right before the first one is supposed to air. Which is an extremely high vote of confidence. More on this, plus a new trailer here below.

Titans Header

The DC Universe has dropped their first trailer for the live-action Titans, and it’s something. Unlike the sunny and comical Teen Titans we’ve seen on Cartoon Network, this is a complete departure from all of that. It’s looks darker, grittier, and Robin has a choice word about his former mentor Batman. A four letter choice word to be precise.

Check out the first trailer for Titans, along with how much the DC Universe streaming service will cost, below.

Hard to believe there was a time before Johnny Depp was Captain Jack Sparrow. Depp was a superstar for nearly two decades and then took the role playing the swaggering pirate in a blockbuster based on a Disney theme park attraction. That role earned Depp his first of three Oscar nominations and changed his career path. Here we are 14 years later, and Depp is still chugging along on the high seas in his fifth Pirates film, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

This time, Jack is searching for the trident of Poseidon, while an old enemy, Captain Salazar (Oscar winner Javier Bardem) hunts him down. While these films have had their ups and downs over the years, no one can deny Depp’s ability to entertain, and part 5 is maybe the best Pirates film since the original. It is out now on Blu-ray/DVD/Digital combo pack and loaded with special features.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales starring Kaya Scodelario and Brenton Thwaites

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is the fifth installment of the franchise. In the film, Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds himself the target of Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), an undead pirate who seeks revenge on Jack who had cursed him during one of his pirate hunting expeditions. So in order to avoid being killed, Sparrow joins forces with Henry Turner (Brenton Thwaites) – the son of Will (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Turner (Keira Knightley) – and Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a horologist accused of witchcraft to find the legendary Poseidon’s Trident before Salazar does.

We were fortunate enough to sit down with our fellow journalists to talk to the cast and crew of the about the film. First up in these round of interviews are the newcomers to the franchise: Kaya Scodelario and Brenton Thwaites. The two talked about their experience watching the first film as kids, what it was like to be in a scene with both Johnny Depp and Jack Sparrow, strong female characters, and what they love about the ride that inspired the films. Check it out below.

Distributor: Walt Disney Studios
Rated PG-13 | 129 Minutes
Release Date: May 26, 2017

While it may be based on a theme park ride, there’s no denying that Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise is the very definition of popcorn summer movie fun. Pure escapism. Though the last entry, On Stranger Tides, tried to do something different to reinvigorate the series, the film was a minor misstep. But now comes the next adventure, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

With a pair of new directors in Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki), and a new screenwriter in Jeff Nathanson, the franchise sails back to its roots and what makes these films so wonderful. Big on excitement, plenty of great characters, and lots of fun. The only problem is that there isn’t enough rum to go around. Check out the full review below.
