Founded by Twisted Central’s Tammy Dupal, The Twisted Tails Film Festival began in 2011 as a fundraising event for homeless animals with a screening of All American Zombie Drugs. Over the course of that year, Twisted Tails gained the attention of independent filmmakers and horror lovers alike.
In 2012, Dupal’s event screened the award-winning horror film, Brutal, and included celebrity guests A. Michael Baldwin, Alan Howarth, Camille Keaton, Bill Oberst Jr., and Cleve Hall.
For this year’s event, Dupal and her team have decided to switch things up and create a full-fledged film festival, with 100% of the proceeds going to Paws in the City, a no-kill animal shelter in Philadelphia, PA.
Submissions for the film festival began March 1st and will run through October 1st. The festival is in search of quality horror shorts and full-length features to showcase the creativity of today’s up-and-coming filmmakers. Because of the nature of the festival, films that depict any kind of animal violence will not be accepted.
If you’re interested in submitting a film for this year’s Twisted Tails Film Festival, fill out the form here.
Visit the official site for more information about this year’s event. Their goal is to screen films from all over and showcase what independent horror is all about all the while helping homeless animals. TTFF is also seeking sponsors, so if anyone out there shares their love of film and animals wants to sponsor, they can contact Dupal at info@twistedcentral.com for details.
