As with almost every sequel out there, new characters are introduced into the film to keep the franchise fresh and interesting. A few months back, Joss Whedon announced that The Avengers: Age of Ultron would add two new characters, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, a brother and sister team that has yet to be cast.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been rumored to be the new Quicksilver, and has been talking about the character during press junkets for Kick-Ass 2, while Saoirse Ronan was attached to be the Scarlet Witch. But now that she has officially passed on the role, Marvel is quickly turning its attention to Martha Marcy May Marlene star Elizabeth Olsen.

Bleeding Cool was the first to report on the rumor. According to them, the role would require Olsen to adopt a “European” accent.

For those who may not know who this character is, Scarlet Witch is the mutant daughter of Magneto, whose powers include probability manipulation, reality alteration, and Chaos Magic.

Olsen may be relatively new to the business (unlike her famous sisters, the Olsen twins), but she has expanded her resume from indie films like Martha Marcy May Marlene, Liberal Arts, and Silent House to bigger more mainstream films like Godzilla. Being cast in The Avengers: Age of Ultron would certainly put her on the map.

Other than the upcoming Godzilla, Olsen can next be seen in Oldboy, Kill Your Darlings, and Therese.
